Fuxi created the Eight Diagrams and the Chinese calendar

点燃了中华民族的文明薪火

lighting the torch of Chinese civilization

作为伏羲的诞生地和伏羲文化的发祥地

As the birthplace of Fuxi and Fuxi culture

以天水为中心的渭河流域

the Weihe River Basin with Tianshui as the center

祭祀伏羲的传统由来已久

has a long history of offering sacrifice to Fuxi

早在春秋时期

As early as the Spring and Autumn period

就在渭水流域用太牢之礼祭祀伏羲

people in the Weihe River Basin offered sacrifices consisting of an ox, a sheep and a pig to Fuxi

到了明朝形成定制

which became a custom in the Ming Dynasty

一年春秋两祭，场面十分壮观

with twice grand ceremonies a year in Spring and Autumn respectively

自此，祭祀伏羲成了天水人生活中的一件大事

Since then, worshipping Fuxi has become a major event in the life of the Tianshui people

一直延续至今，相沿成俗

and been passed down to turn into a custom

The worshipping ceremonies for Fuxi are held jointly by compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits

in the hometown of Emperor Fuxi on June 22,

for inheriting the Fuxi culture and pooling energy for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation
