国立西南联合大学由国立北京大学、国立清华大学、私立南开大学组成，旧址位于今云南师范大学。它在存在的短短8年多时间里，保存了抗战时期的重要科研力量，培养了一大批卓有成就的优秀人才。
The National Southwestern Associated University consists of National Peking University, National Tsinghua University, and Private Nankai University. The former site is located in Yunnan Normal University. 作为中国近代史上著名的军事院校，云南陆军讲武堂被誉为“将帅摇篮”，从这里走出过朱德、叶剑英两位元帅以及二十几位上将。
